Police Commissioner Bill Bratton Quoted On Firearm Usage

Attorney David E. Levine was interviewed in connection to Police Commissioner Bill Bratton and his recent comments to say that of his 35,000 police officers, their guns were fired 65 times last year as compared to the previous low of 75 times.

EXPERT:
But criminal defense lawyer David Levine told the Daily News he saw no reason for such special courts.

"The judges that I know . . . are well-qualified and extremely fair, and are more than capable of handling every case that comes before them," he said. "I expect the outcome of this will be requests for enhanced punishments by the prosecutors and an attempt to pressure the judiciary into giving higher sentences."

Top Charges Facing Band Leader Dismissed

In an update to the case against the Brooklyn band leader accused of duct-taping a student's mouth shut, the top 2 charges: felony assault in the 2nd degree with a weapon and criminal possession of a weapon in the 4th degree, have been dismissed. The only remaining charge in the case is a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child. The other two charges could not be proved.
